How Gemini Rescued My face-to-face Client Meetings (and Can Rescue Yours Too!)
The other day, I was in a face-to-face client meeting, using my phone to take notes. But it felt a bit awkward. I didn’t want to appear uninterested, but I also couldn’t risk missing important details. There must be an app out there to help me with this.
Afterwards, I briefly considered searching for a transcription app, but there had to be a way to do it in Google Workspace. Surely, with all of its fantastic features, there would be something to help me. I knew that Gemini could transcribe notes in an online Google Meet but could it work for a face-to-face meeting? Turns out that yes, it can.
I did a quick test run with my colleagues. I set up a Google Meet on my phone, and opted for Gemini to take notes. Then, I placed my phone on the table and let Gemini become my silent note-taker. It worked exactly how I wanted it to.
Minutes after the meeting, the transcription and a concise summary landed in my inbox. The best part? Everything stayed within the Google Workspace environment – no having to export from a third-party app.

And get this: I realised I could paste the transcription back into the Gemini desktop app and ask it to generate action points. Talk about a time-saver!
Good to know: The transcriptions are currently saved in “My Drive.” I’m hoping this changes in the future, but for now, I can just move them to our shared drive so the whole team can access them.
Ready to ditch the notepad (or manual typing!) and embrace the future of note-taking? Here’s how:
- Fire up a Google Meet: Open up your Gmail App, click on the little video icon at the bottom which will take you into a Google Meet window. Click on “New Meeting” > “Start an instant meeting”.
- Bring in Gemini: Click on the three dots in the bottom tool bar and click on “Take notes with Gemini” > “Start taking notes”
- That’s it! Seriously, you can now relax and let Gemini do its thing.

Why this is a game-changer:
- Increased Focus: You can actively participate in the conversation without the distraction of note-taking.
- Improved Accuracy: Gemini captures everything accurately, eliminating the risk of missed information or misinterpretations.
- Time Savings: No more transcribing notes after the meeting! Gemini frees up your time for other important tasks.
- Enhanced Organisation: With automatic summaries and action points, you can easily stay on top of your meetings and follow-up effectively.
This experience completely transformed how I handle meetings. No more frantic typing, no more missed information, and no more time wasted on transcribing. If you’re looking for a practical way to use Gemini in your daily workflow, I highly recommend giving this a try!
