Dare to Lead
Are you interested in new ideas to grow and develop yourself or your business?
Join us for the next Chamber Business Book Club on Tuesday 13 May – it’s for people who love to learn, want to get new perspectives on business and personal development – and would also like to meet other like-minded individuals.
The book we’re reading for the May Book Club is 'Dare to Lead' by Brené Brown.
We felt book about leadership with courage was particularly apt for these challenging times that we find us and our businesses in and Brené Brown has been on our author list for a while.
The book centres on the premise that leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people, processes and ideas, and developing that potential.
The book focuses on what we can do better as leaders – to lean into vulnerability and have more empathy, connection and courage.
Over years of research, Brown finds that all organisations are asking the same questions. How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders? And, how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? Dare to Lead answers these questions and gives us actionable strategies and real examples.
The book is for everyone who wants to lead and make a difference, with heart and courage.
About the event
Amy Lishman, Head of Member Engagement & Deputy CEO at Brighton Chamber, facilitates the discussion and shares prompts and questions about the themes and topics for you to reflect upon. Hosted on Zoom, the Chamber Book Club happens every three months.
We'll send you a synopsis a couple of weeks in advance, to get you thinking about what you might contribute on the night. You do not need to have come to the previous Book Clubs to attend.
Being part of the Business Book Club will get you delving into that pile of books – and introduce you to new titles that are not yet on your reading list.
You can buy the book from any good retailer. City Books has an excellent selection of business books. You can buy over the phone from them or online through https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/city-books - or, Bookshop.org is an online bookshop that supports independent bookshops.
