The Local Plan of any city is a key planning document, which can drive growth, prosperity and opportunities; the involvement of the local community and businesses in planning for their areas is an essential component of successful plan-making.

Construction Voice was heavily focused on the formation of the current City Plan at the time, to maximise understanding amongst the property and construction sectors in our city.

Time flies – and Brighton & Hove City Council’s planning department have now commenced consultations on the City Plan 2041, with the first stage of consultation just completed.

For our next Construction Voice we will hear more about the top level findings so far and explore what we can learn from our existing City Plan, in order to ensure the City’s trajectory is healthy and productive moving forward.

Max Woodford, Director of Place, will discuss whether the current City Plan will achieve what it set out to do by 2030, or whether adjustments will be made.

Steve Tremlett, Interim Planning Policy Manager along with Helen Gregory, Principal Planning Officer, will talk us through the planning department’s initial analysis of consultation responses.

Helen and Steve will share the City Plan 2041 preparation roadmap and discuss why they have started the review of CPP1, the timetable and opportunities for future engagement. They will also give an overview of the issues, and possible opportunities, identified through the CP41 Key Issues Document that the future plan needs to address.
