Why you should join the Partnership for Active Travel & Health
Brighton & Hove City Council want more businesses to get involved with the Partnership for Active Travel & Health this year. Read more to find out why it's good for business.
Is the health and wellbeing of your staff important to you and your company? Are you looking for ways to encourage your staff to travel more sustainably? Would you like your company to have its say on improving sustainable travel options across the city?
With health and wellbeing of staff and employees, across the city, being high on the agenda, now would be a good time to be part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s (BHCC) Partnership for Active Travel & Health.
Over the last 10 years, BHCC has been talking with companies and organisations about active and sustainable travel at the Travel Plan Partnership. This Partnership looked at ways that companies can promote active travel through the travel plan process.
In 2017 BHCC won funding from the Department for Transport’s Access Fund for Sustainable Travel in 2017, and this enables us to work with organisations across the city until 2020. The funding also enables BHCC to make these Partnership meetings current and valuable as we head into the 2020’s. They now have more of an emphasis on employee health and wellbeing and promoting active travel (walking, cycling and public transport).
If your company would like to be part of the conversation, learn what BHCC is doing to help companies promote active travel to staff, and contribute towards improving travel experiences across the city, come and be part of the Partnership. It’s free to join and we would love new members on board. All you have to do is email transport.projects@brighton-hove.gov.uk and ask to join. You’ll be added to our mailing list so you can receive invitations, get sustainable transport updates and a tri-annual newsletter. The Partnership meetings happen three times a year in Spring, Summer and Autumn. We also give companies and organisations the opportunity to host these events. If your company is interested in hosting one in the future, email BHCC at the email address above.
The next Partnership meetingwill be on the 6 March and will be held at the University of Brighton’s Grand Parade Campus. We have a guest speaker from AECOM consultancy presenting on business resilience, action plans and Active Travel. This event is also an opportunity to network with our existing members (to see the list of our members click here). Lunch is also provided.
