What Now After Growth Accelerator? Action COACH’s response
Some of you may have read my recent article on LinkedIn regarding the rather sudden and damaging decision by central government to pull the plug at short notice on the Growth Accelerator scheme which was intended to help SMEs get onto a business coaching and support programme
Well in response we have put our heads together at Action COACH and the following announcement was made on the 1st January.
________________________________________________________________________
Hundreds of small and medium sized businesses across the region will be breathing a sigh of relief today with news that ActionCOACH, the number one business coaching franchise in the world, is stepping in to help them after the Government announced it was winding down its Business Growth Service.
Launched in 2012, Growth Accelerator (GA) was a £200m scheme designed to help up to 26,000 small businesses in England grow. It was a scheme which many businesses in our area chose to take up, giving them access to subsidised business advisers and coaches.
Under the Growth Accelerator scheme, SMEs had the opportunity to receive double the amount of investment they put in. So, for example, a business investing £1,500 would receive £3000 worth of business expertise and advice.
Now with thousands of businesses left reeling after the scheme's funding was cut in the budget, as part of the Government's £84m saving plan, ActionCOACH says it will still honour the deal.
Gavin Bellamy from ActionCOACH said the government has pulled the rug from under thousands of small businesses in the South East.
“The Growth Accelerator initiative has been a huge commercial success. The government's own figures attest to how many and by how much companies of the GA scheme have shown remarkable increases in profitability and job creation as well as giving them a sense of satisfaction”.
"SMEs are the backbone of the UK economy and I'm really disappointed that the government has shelved it so early in their term. This type of funding is essential for small businesses. It’s a matter of principle and that’s why I am so committed to supporting them however I can."
By removing financial support the government has passed the gauntlet to those in the private sector to support business growth, and many support services will face an overwhelming challenge. However at ActionCOACH, we understand business owners are willing to invest in commercial value and since 1993 through testing and measuring over 3,500 business growth strategies and tactics, we have developed a toolkit, which enables our business growth specialists to guarantee a ROI for any UK business owner.
So what now?
Well I run business growth programmes in the form of group coaching and one to one.
