Well I would drive 10,000 miles...
BHCC Member, Laura Over (of asb law), will be attempting the Mongol Rally 2010. Laura (aka Queen of the Rally) and best friend, Paul, (known at The Two Mongoleers) will be attempting to drive from Goodwood to the Capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Sound easy? Well, it's over 10,000 miles across 12 countries, a possible 5 mountain ranges and 3 deserts. Visas are needed, borders could take up to 4 days to pass and crossing is not guaranteed. Plus the rally rules state the car must be under a 1.2 litre and the Gobi Desert is by all accounts not too forgiving! Still sound a walk in the park?
Clearly, the idea to drive over 10,000 miles, completely unaided in a very small car, is sheer madness but it's all in a good cause, in an attempt to raise £2,000 for three very worthwhile charities - The Christina Noble Children's Foundation, Cancer Research and the Neurofibromatosis Association. Plus, when in Mongolia, the car itself will benefit charity. So it really is all good stuff!
Laura is currently looking for donations for their chosen charities, a car to undertake this mammoth task in and a number of corporate sponsors. They have a range sponsorship packages available, meaning that your business could get involved for as little as £50. In return (depending on your involvement) they can offer your business advertising space on the rally car and (permission permitting) mentions in their various newspaper, magazine, TV and radio articles which are set to run throughout the year. A great way to advertise your company and give something back!
If you, or your company could help, in anyway at all, or if you just wish to find out more, check out their website:www.thetwomongoleers.co.ukor contact Laura on 07725110154. Thanks in advance from The Two Mongoleers and their charities.
