On Thursday 6th April, over 600 hours of volunteering were donated to 10 chosen charities from Brighton and Hove, via the annual Time2Give Spring Ball. Organisers are thrilled to announce that it is an increase of 100 hours from the previous year’s event, and culminates in over 2,100 hours donated across the three years the event has been established.
Held at The Grand hotel, Brighton and hosted by Guy Lloyd and Sophie Corbett, the event chose to support Brighton City Partnership for Education, Carousel, Carers Centre, Fareshare, Headway East Sussex, Mindout, Ronald McDonald House, Rhythmix, Survivors’ Network, and Team Domenica, and included the ‘auction with a difference’ where guests are invited to bid for great prizes with their TIME rather than their CASH.
Guests who donated time on the night are now having their professional skills matched to the chosen charities requirements. Time 2 Give ambassador Frances Duncan, who’s task it is to match the skills with the hours said “Twenty-three guests volunteered over 600 hours of their time and professional skills – everything from mentoring, finance and fundraising, through to gardening and cooking meals for families whose children are in hospital. It was wonderful to see the generosity of those who came to the Time2Give Ball and the charities are very excited to be working with such talented and big hearted people’.
Guest and now volunteer Jayne Ross added ‘I am delighted to be able to offer my support to the organisation ’Carousel’ and excited about the prospect of doing some very creative work. I hope to be able to help them raise £25,000 towards their Film Festival this year. The money raised will help Carousel to grow their festival and showcase the work of talented filmmakers from around the world’.
The event was in conjunction with Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Community Works and Giving Times and sponsored by Chariot House, Griffin Smith Farrington Webb, and the Better Half. Sarah Springford, Director, Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce said “Brighton Chamber was pleased to get involved with such a good event and help businesses volunteer their time to support some of our great local charities’
