Supporting the Brighton Mainline Alliance
Brighton Chamber are supporting Coast to Capital’s campaign to upgrade the Brighton Mainline train service.
The Brighton Mainline urgently needs upgrading to allow more trains to run and to deliver major improvements in punctuality between London, Gatwick Airport and the Sussex coast.
Coast to Capital is campaigning for significant long-term rail investment to drive growth and productivity across the whole region, protect our economic potential and support the growth ambitions of our businesses.
- The Coast to Capital region needs significant long-term rail investment to support a growing regional economy and maintain its competitive advantage
- Addressing this strategic issue will protect both the economic potential of the region and the significant contribution that it makes to London’s economy
- Network Rail has identified the Brighton Mainline as the single top priority for investment in the region and there is a strong business case for investment
- Proposed upgrades include enhancements to the Windmill Bridge Junction and a major redevelopment of East Croydon Station
- Unlocking this bottleneck will enhance capacity, connectivity and resilience, driving growth and productivity throughout the region. This is vital for links to London, as well as international connectivity.
We have joined the Brighton Mainline Alliance which is a group of businesses and organisations that support this campaign. Investment is needed to deliver:
- Rail links to London and Gatwick Airport that businesses can rely on
- More trains along the Brighton Mainline network which extends across the Sussex Coast
- Punctuality improvements for those that live, work or visit the region
The Alliance is demonstrating business support for the ‘Croydon Area Remodelling Scheme’ which has now received government funding for the design stage and the next step is for Government to agree the detailed design of the project and commit to funding.
Join now and add your weight to the collective voice. Over 40 businesses and organisations have signed up to the Alliance and MPs have offered their support from across the region.
