Small Business Saturday

On Saturday 6th December Small Business Saturday took place across the city. The Economic Development team from Brighton & Hove City Council hit the streets and gave out 1500 maps of the city between 9am and 1pm as part of a national event to promote local shopping and independent businesses.

This year felt busier than ever, showing people’s wish to shop local and support independent businesses. 

Andy Glover, Senior Economic Development Officer said “I gave one shopper a Stamp’n Win card on Boundary Road, explained the concept and 30 minutes later the shopper came back to me to show two stamps already, with some flowers and sweets in hands.

Thanks again to everyone who supported the initiative. I haven’t been so cold for a long time and spent the afternoon and evening thawing out…but well worth it.”
