Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce are currently recruiting volunteer mentors to mentor new business start-ups on the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) scheme.
NEA is an initiative to help start-ups and entrepreneurs to grow and prosper by means of a mentoring service, and also a possible loan of up to £1,000.
The mentor will have suitable business experience, a friendly and patient nature, and seek the endorphin buzz that comes from helping people. There is a relatively small time commitment involved.
Mentoring participants of the scheme have found the role invaluable, commenting;
“I’ve found the NEA mentoring scheme a rewarding experience and it’s great to see and be a part of new business ideas turning into reality in the shape of new local start-ups”. Volunteer Business Mentor Omar Shah, Director, Go-Telecom
The initiative has proven to be a success, and as a result of the scheme, to date, 64 start-ups have been confirmed in Brighton and Hove.
The Chamber has recruited 40 volunteer mentors so far, but is looking to recruit approximately another 50.
