Plans for Sussex flexible working fair
Plans are being made for a Working Jobs from HomeRecruitment Fair to be held in Hove in September.
Direct sales businesses, franchisors, training companies, colleges, professional business advisors and networking groups will all be represented.
Organiser Karyn Slyfield aims to bring under one roof people offering job opportunities or advice and those seeking flexible work or hoping to start their own businesses.
Karyn, who lives in Worthing, already runs a website called Working Jobs from Home which attracts 2,000 visitors a day and she wants to create an event which makes it possible for people interested in flexible work opportunities to meet face to face.
“This could appeal particularly to stay at home parents, students, graduates, people wanting to supplement their pensions, those facing redundancy and others looking to boost their income or start their own business,” Karynsaid.
Exhibitor Sharon Endersby, of Utility Warehouse, said she was attracted to the fair because of a “fantastic response” to her adverts on the Working Jobs from Home website.
“I am hoping to bring a team of about eight people who will be able to talk to visitors on a one-to-one basis and tell them more about the opportunities we offer.”
Other direct selling organisations signed up so far include: Neals Yard, Phoenix Trading, Kleeneze, Forever Living, The Pampered Chef and Jo Magdalena.
Karyn said: “The early response has been great. I think this is a good time to hold the fair because more and more people are moving towards flexible working, having two or three jobs rather than one full-time career. Jobs for life are few and far between now.”
The fair will be held at the Lansdowne Place Hotel and Spa, Lansdowne Place, Hove, on September 29, from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
Entry will be free and there will be free seminars and workshops too. Goodie bags will be available for the first 300 job seekers to arrive at the event.
