OptaNet to launch new G.fast broadband services

 

 

OptaNet, Brighton & Hove's local ISP, has a history of delivering ground breaking products and services, and right now they're at the forefront of an exciting new development in internet connectivity. 

 

Next month, businesses in select parts of the UK will be able to buy G.fast broadband from them. This service delivers download speeds up to four times those of fibre broadband, and over ten times the UK average.  

 

Although not available currently in Brighton & Hove, it is expected to reach 10 million homes and businesses by 2020 and most of the UK by 2025. Nicholas Sheppard, Sales & Marketing Manager at OptaNet explains: 

 

“G.fast is a technology that can deliver speeds up to 330Mbps over your existing copper phone line. That means we can get businesses connected rapidly without the need for surveys or cable works. With upload speeds of 50Mbps, this really offers businesses another low cost broadband solution.”

 

“We are viewing G.fast as a product that compliments others we offer, such as dedicated leased lines, but this could signal a shift away from fibre broadband even though it is still being rolled out in some parts of the UK.

 

Successful trials have already taken place and it’s not known when this will be available to Chamber members.
