The Olympic Torch to visit Brighton & Hove
This week’s big news is that the Olympic torch will be coming to Brighton on Monday 16th July 2012.
The locations were confirmed by the London 2012 Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) this week, with Brighton & Hove being one of only 70 places in the country which the torch will pass through.
The other evening sites are: Oxford, Reading, Portsmouth, Southampton, Hastings, Maidstone, Dover and Guildford.
The torch will come from Portsmouth and going on to Hastings when it leaves the city, although the actual route linking up the evening venues will not be released until the autumn.
It is thought that the evening celebration will take place on Madeira Dr and for the morning send off to be from the Pavilion Gardens.
The City will be able to nominate 2 local people to carry the torch – to apply or nominate someone you know visitwww.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay
