Nominees for executive members for the Chamber
Six Chamber members are standing for election to the Chamber Executive Committee at this year's AGM on 16th May. All have been actively voluntering their time to help the Chamber, and between them they bring a wide range of skills and experience.
Danni Cracker – standing for Executive Committee member
Danni Craker runs Craker Business Solutions, an ethical values led chartered accountancy firm, providing proactive tailored services, to deal with all the financial aspects of running a business.
“A key part of our business philosophy is to inspire and enable other businesses to grow responsibly. This led me to join the Chamber Green Group and volunteer as part of the Steering Committee. I’ll bring my financial and business skills as well as my experience of being, and working with, ethical and eco businesses to the Executive Committee. I hope that by being a part of the Executive Committee I’ll can contribute to the Chamber’s success and assist the Chamber in developing opportunities for ethical and eco businesses”.
Richard Excell – standing for Executive Committee member
Richard Excell is Owner of Excell Design, a creative agency with a passion for design and branding and over 25 years experience in the industry.
"Over the last three years I have been a Chamber Ambassador actively promoting the benefits of membership among the local business community as well as taking a role in presenting Chamber events including the Inspirational Breakfasts and Spotlight Suppers. I’ve also become involved in the conception and design of Chamber marketing materials, offering the skills and expertise that I have gained in my career, and introducing new and effective ideas for promoting the Chamber such as the Quarterly Events Programme and email communications. I see the upcoming year as an exciting opportunity to grow and evolve the Chamber membership and it’s role in south east and coastal business communities."
Helen Keevy – standing for Executive Committee Member
A trained journalist, Helen has worked in online and print media for almost ten years, as a writer, book editor, website manager and web development project manager. She currently runs Core Copywriting, working with website owners and web development agencies to make their online information as easy to read, find and use as possible.
“I’ve been a member of the Chamber for two years because it gives me a sense of belonging to the wider Brighton & Hove business community and gives me a voice as a sole trader. I’m also a permanent fixture in the Chamber Rooms and am looking forward to helping develop it into another valuable resource for Chamber members.”
Carol Lewis – standing for Executive Committee member
Carol runs Bainbridge Lewis, an accountancy practice that helps start-up businesses and SME’s by spending time with them explaining their figures and helping them navigate the financial issues involved with setting up a new business. She has volunteered with the Chamber for the last year and often assists with the announcements at the breakfast events.
“When I joined the Chamber two years ago we were just setting up our business. The Chamber has made such a big difference to the success of our business by providing support and helping us win new clients. I really want to give something back to the Chamber so that it can continue to help new businesses flourish in the city”.
Debbie Venn – standing for Executive Committee member
Debbie works for asb law LLP, a firm of solicitors based in the South-East, specialising in both corporate/commercial and private client areas of law. Debbie qualified as a solicitor in April 2004. Her main areas of expertise are in intellectual property rights, information technology, e-commerce, data protection, privacy, information security and travel. Debbie is also recognised as ‘an Associate to watch’ in Chambers Directory 2011 and 2012.
Outside of work, Debbie is a demon baker and her colleagues like nothing more than being used as guinea pigs for new recipes! She also enjoys keeping fit, and has been responsible for arranging asb’s volleyball fixture list, playing clients and contacts, for several years.
asb law LLP has been a member of Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce for a number of years. Debbie is already a Chamber Ambassador and is also due to be on the programme of speakers for the Chamber in the Autumn for some bite-size learning sessions on intellectual property rights.
Charles Kinsley – standing for Executive committee member
Charles is Co Director of Eco Alchemists, a Brighton and London based business that since 1999 has been sustainably refurbishing private and social housing.
"I have been a member of the Chamber Green Group since last year and have been helping lead it's ongoing development. I facilitated a strategic work session that created three working groups all focused on cultivating sustainable business in Brighton and Hove. I'm excited about bringing my organisation development experience to the Chamber to help enhance the impact we can have on the business community in Brighton and Hove."
