Meet Aspect8
Aspect8 are Independent Financial Advisors and are the Chamber Breakfast sponsors in January. Here, Claire Walsh introduces us to Aspect8...
Please tell us a bit about your business, what you do and who you work with:
We are Independent Financial Advisers and we provide personal financial advice for individuals on all aspects of financial planning, encompassing pensions, investments, life cover, and inheritance tax planning.
What gives you the most satisfaction from your business?
I enjoy helping people to really understand their finances so that they can make informed decisions and give them peace of mind.
What’s been the biggest challenge for you as a business?
Overcoming negative stereotypes that have grown out of historical miss-selling and products designed to hide high charges; we are fee based and all charges are completely transparent.
What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?
To have a go. If you don’t try you certainly won’t succeed, but if you have a go you just might.
Who’s your business inspirational hero?
The late Felix Dennis was very inspirational and his whole approach to life and business was very much have a go.
What are your goals for your business over the next 12 months?
To raise Aspect 8’s profile in Brighton and to continue to serve our existing clients whilst attracting new clients and to win some more awards for the work we do.
About the Chamber:
If you could invite anyone to speak at a Chamber event, who would it be?
I think it would be really interesting to hear from Maddie and Lydia who founded Fawn Art Consultancy and also Adam Hill founder of Designate
What’s been your favourite Chamber event this year?
This will be my first! It is only January!
Why did you decide to become a sponsor for the Chamber?
I’ve wanted to sponsor a Chamber event for ages…it was just a case of finding the right time and opportunity.
About Brighton and Hove:
What is your favourite place in Brighton?
Cycling along the seafront early in the (summer) morning when and the beach is a strange hotch-potch of revellers from the night before, council cleaners and collectors with metal detectors.
In your opinion, what’s the best thing about living and/or working in Brighton and Hove?
Brighton is so eclectic and I feel incredibly happy and proud to live amongst such cosmopolitan, liberal and independently minded people. This community is why Brighton is such a natural place for small business to establish and thrive and why we have so many creative businesses.
And finally:
What’s the best thing about being a member of the Chamber?
The Chamber is incredibly supportive and inclusive and they work hard to both welcome and network members and also champion issues affecting members locally. I haven’t been a very active member recently, but I am very grateful for the work that they do and the community they provide.
