Looking ahead to Brighton Chamber’s 2017 events
We’ve lined up plenty of exciting events to kick off your networking in the new year. And we have a packed programme of sessions that give easy and cost effective access to learn more business skills.
If you want to get networking…
Kick off your 2017 networking at our Pop-up breakfast on 12 January. Business communications expert Steve Bustin will be interviewing Warren Carter from the Bevy Pub the man behind the first community owned estate pub in the UK.
Our monthly breakfast at Carluccio's are always full. On 27 January we’ll be hearing from Debra Humphris, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Brighton, who originally qualified as a nurse and spent 20 years in the NHS before becoming involved in the world of education.

The next New Member Welcome is on 30 January. This is our ‘welcome to the Chamber’ event for new members, new employees, and members who simply want to find out more. Light refreshments and a glass of wine will be provided and it’s free to attend.
Our first Business Leaders Lunch of 2017 is with guest speaker Paul Barber, Chief Executive of Brighton & Hove Albion. Paul will be talking about his fascinating business journey. Join us for a two-course meal and glass of wine on 8 February.
At our February Breakfast, speaker David Lockie, former zoologist and now Founder and Director of the UK’s fastest growing WordPress specialist agency Pragmatic, will be talking about how he grew his company to 40 full time staff and attracted leading brands as clients. Join us on the 24 February.
Bite-sized Learning sessions
Our Recruit, Retain, Motivate, Promote training session on the 10 January with HR Advise Me will focus on your recruitment process, job satisfaction and incentives, and developing your team.
The Harness the power of humour…and do better business session is on 17 January, you’ll learn how to use humour to become a better leader and communicator. It’s led by stand-up comedian, coach and trainer Gerry Thompson from Positive Comedy.

On 25 January How to write brilliant press releases to achieve free media coverage is led by Ann Bird, media expert and founder of AB Business Training. Packed with tips and advice, this session will show how the right press release can increase sales, attract investment and raise a company’s profile.
Growing your business workshop on the 31 January is led by business expert Julia Chanteray. It includes: getting money together to fund your growth, finding resources, how to price right for growth and much more…
February’s Bite-sized learning sessions include Stop procrastinating on 1 February, PR can be free on the 15 February and Marketing strategies that get you heard on the 21 February.
