How can creativity support your business?
Conversation session, Brighton Summit, Friday 16 October
Discussing how you can use creativity to support your business, you’ll hear from Andy Parsons, Architect & Founder of Yelo Architects, Helen Chesshire, Co-founder of Brighton Gin, and Jon Singleton, Business and Development Director of South East Dance.
Andy is a Chartered Architect & Founder of Yelo Architects, a leading Brighton architectural practice specialising in unique, high quality & contemporary projects. He has established a strong team that deals with every stage of an architectural commission from appraisals through planning & construction to administration & handover.
The practice is set up to cover all work sectors with work commissions encompassing social & private housing, retail & leisure among others. Andy is passionate about design & is intent on Yelo becoming an internationally recognised practice but still with Brighton as its home.
Helen believes in "thinking outside and inside the box to build a platform for your brand to sit and to flourish". Whether it be with using creative social media or physical guerrilla marketing, meeting challenges with creative thinking can certainly build interest, customers to sustain and build business.
Helen is the Co-founder of Brighton Gin along with Kathy Caton. Helen is a spirits specialist & drinks PR (formerly in-house at Champagne Pol Roger). Brighton Gin is distilled in the basement of The Urchin, a craft beer pub in Hove. Helen and Kathy believe that they are the world's first female distilling duo.
Jon will talk about their DanSCe Dialogues 2 project: "As one of 8 partners across the South of England and Northern France, we were able to significantly grow our business between 2011-2014. In financial terms we grew the business by approximately £250,000 as result of a project that saw dance activity from 150+ artists in 40 venues engage with over 6000 spectators. We thought given the benefits of working with like-minded partners just across the channel might be a good angle on showing how working creatively with partners in Europe can open doors to funding, which both grow the business and give you a bit more creative freedom and scale of ambition."
With close on 20 years’ experience in the performing art sector, Jon joined South East Dance as Interim Programme Director in July 2012. Jon has continued to work for the organisation, initially as Business and Development Director and more recently as Executive Director since March 2015.
He has worked in a senior capacity at the ISTD Examinations Board as both Chief Executive and Head of Marketing. More recently he worked as interim Deputy Director of Dance UK. Prior to working full-time for South East Dance he had worked as a freelance consultant with a number of organisations in both the performing arts and health and fitness sectors. He has postgraduate diplomas in marketing and cultural management.
The discussion will be facilitated by Emma Haughton. Emma is a professional coach and arts consultant with over twenty five years’ experience of supporting individuals and organisations in the arts, creative and social sectors to realise their vision and potential.
