Health and Wellbeing Support for Workplaces
Brighton & Hove City Council share the support available for businesses and organisations looking to improve the health and wellbeing of their workforce.
Brighton & Hove City Council's Public Health Team can work with you to promote a healthier workforce. The workplace is a setting where many people spend the largest proportion of their time and therefore supporting staff at work can play a key role in contributing to the health of an organisation's employees. We can support you with the following services:
Free training
We offer free places on our "Understand Health Improvement in the Workplace" training course and it is accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health. The course has been created to support local orgainsations to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff. It will do this by helping attendees identify how people fall into unhealthy practices, the personal and social consequences of these behaviours and how to improve the health of others at work by providing help and support through workplace health campaigns.
This training will next take place between 9:30 am- 4:30 pm on Friday 24th and Friday 31st January 2020 in a central Brighton & Hove location.
NHS Health Checks for staff
Free NHS Health Checks for adults over the age of 40 are available and are carried out by a trained nurse, who will come to your workplace. It can tell your staff whether they're at a higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and stroke. As well as measuring their risk of developing these health problems, an NHS Health Check gives them advice on how to prevent them.
Workshop and health advice
We can deliver free in-house workshops on a range of health topics such as nutrition, smoking cessation, and how to incorporate physical activity in the working day. We can also provide guidance and support on a range of health and wellbeing areas.
Staff Health and Wellbeing survey
We can provide a staff health and wellbeing questionnaire which is available via an online survey. It is completely confidential and captures the voice of staff. The main aims of the survey are to find out about the health & wellbeing issues of importance to all staff, gain a better understanding of the type of support staff would like, clarify how staff would like to access health information, support and guidance and raise awareness of the range of support available in the city.
A summary report presents the key findings whilst keeping individual responses confidential. The Health Development Specialist from Public Health is available to work with you to develop a comprehensive response that will aim to improve the overall health and wellbeing of staff based on the results of the survey.
