Growing your reputation
Conversation session, Brighton Summit, Friday 16 October
Discussing ways in which to grow your reputation, you’ll hear from Miranda Birch, Vicki Hughes founder of Fugu PR and Jason Woodford CEO of SiteVisibility.
Miranda explains “Reputation is showing that you care about your work and your client. You can be a world leader in your field, but if you’re distracted or on auto-pilot, you client might feel neglected and your reputation could suffer.
And it is about showing rather than telling. When you share stories about the challenges you’ve overcome to develop your product or expertise, you give those clients tangible evidence that you’re taking them seriously.
And once you deliver, their stories about your eye for detail and your ability to hit deadlines will spread the word.
Now watch your reputation fly…”
In a career that spans the BBC and work with businesses in every sector, Miranda has interviewed more than a thousand people – and counting…
She uses her journalistic skills to help companies to pinpoint what’s special about what they do and why their clients can’t afford to live without them. In her experience, successful people rarely give themselves the credit they deserve. It’s only when they’re interviewed that they realise just how good they are and how best to communicate their value to their clients.
Once Miranda turns their stories into videos, podcasts and written features, there’s no stopping them!
Vicki will discuss “How do you build your brand and manage your reputation? You need to take a long-term view and build your reputation with a consistent message about why your business is special and worth remembering. Once you’ve established a strong business, excellent customer service and your USP, make sure everyone knows about it through interesting and wide reaching conversations.”
Vicki is the MD and founder of Fugu PR. Working in consultancy since the early nineties, she has been at the forefront of developments in digital media. Her unique approach has been developed after nearly 20 years in delivering national and global campaigns. She regularly lectures and trains businesses and students on communication theory and campaigns.
Jason will be talking about: “How I moved from the security of employment to running my own business, growing the business and the lessons learned.
I’ll be sharing my story which evolved from being a strategy analyst at a multi-national plc, through learning about digital marketing at an ecommerce dotcom to gaining the confidence to start my own business and the thrills and lessons I’ve learnt whilst getting to where SiteVisibility is now.
I’ll talk about team building and growing your brand whilst managing cashflow and keeping customers happy. How to get used to taking risks and some of the great successes we’ve had. Why mistakes are inevitable and what I've learnt from some I’ve made. How to be persistent and have the energy to try one more time.
I enjoy meeting and helping people - how to network successfully and build a community of contacts who can help you, as well as the importance of giving back to and re-investing in the communities we work in and finally why Brighton is one of the best places to start and grow a business.”
Jason is CEO of SiteVisibility, the integrated digital marketing agency with a SEO heritage stretching back to 2001.
