Would you like a fully funded intern this summer?
Support for your business with fully funded undergraduate internships
Brighton Chamber is working with the University of Sussex to find businesses that would benefit from financial support to employ a Sussex student this summer.
This undergraduate internship scheme is fully funded. You could receive £3,300 of funding to offer a First-Generation Scholar a 10 week internship opportunity commencing in June 2016.
Now in its third year, the University of Sussex First-Generation Scholars’ Summer Internship Programme is designed to offer:
- Relevant and meaningful work experience to 2nd year students who are categorised as First-Generation Scholars
- Additional support for your organisation to complete specific projects or tasks
Interns should receive a minimum of £8.25 per hour (the UK Living Wage) and will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Can you also offer 2 days' work shadowing?
The University of Sussex is asking employers to consider hosting a 1st year First-Generation Scholar student. Work shadowing usually takes place between April and June and lasts for just two days.
This support will provide the students with access to social networks, contacts and experiences which will allow them to explore future careers. It will also give you the opportunity to potentially identify talented individuals early on in their studies.
