Full funding to employ a student for a 10 week internship
Brighton Chamber is working with the University of Sussex to find businesses that would benefit from financial support to employ a Sussex student this summer.
The scheme provides £3,500 of funding to offer a First-Generation Scholar a 10 week internship opportunity commencing in June 2017.
Now in its fourth year, the First-Generation Scholars’ Summer Internship Programme is designed to offer:
- Relevant and meaningful work experience to 2nd year students who are categorised as First-Generation Scholars
- Additional support for your organisation to complete specific projects or tasks
There are a couple of changes to the 2017 programme:
- Employers will be limited to a maximum of two Expressions of Interest
- The deadline for submissions of Expressions of Interest is 31 March 2017
- All employers must also offer 1 or 2 days work shadowing opportunity
Interns should receive a minimum of £8.45 per hour and will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week for 10 weeks. Find out more about the UK Living Wage rate and the Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign here.
