Four New Ways to Business Success
I’m lucky enough to speak to a lot of business owners each month and I hear about their problems, their solutions and their successes.
I know how difficult it can be for business owners to make decisions sometimes; literally buried in all kinds of issues the objective of the whole exercise can easily be lost.
So I was interested to read about the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce new initiative ‘Wayfinder’.
Its uses peer to peer coaching ideas in small groups and, most importantly, it will be facilitated by experienced professionals to ensure that everyone in the group benefits.
You can learn a lot from your own and others mistakes and lessons in one business often transfer to others as valuable experience.
So it’s with this in mind that I’m excited about Wayfinder. It’s absolutely essential that every business owner puts aside time on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis to review their personal and business objectives and develops strategies and tactics to achieve them. We know that, but it’s not easy doing it on your own. And there’s is a big wide world out there which we need to explore so we often don’t have all the information we need to make the right choices.
Speaking to others about your ideas and issues brings their wider experience and knowledge to you. Often verbalising a problem, especially in a well facilitated forum as this will be, can be enough to spur your own mind to come up with solutions that suit you and reflect your own personality and desires.
Interestingly, WayFinder is going to cater for the emotional side of business. Steady we say! Isn’t business supposed to be rational and ‘businesslike’? Actually, small businesses reflect the emotions of their owners. The passion that is shown and the dedication to excellence and hard work come from the emotional attachment we have to our businesses and our customers. Long may it be so!
Cleverly, the groups will focus on specific aspects of business so you can join any one of four to suit your situation.
SatNav Down – when you’re not sure what strategy to adopt.
Crossroads – having to make some tough changes in your business
Rusty Compass – if you are looking for new challenges
New Boots - when you want to really go for it.
Knowing the Brighton & Hove Chamber member I expect these sessions to be lively and productive meetings of like-minded people. There will be a group for you and if you are ready to share with others in a safe environment you’re bound to find the time well spent.
