First Festival For sshh... Yurts
Very recently we had our first set-up and a chance to showcase who we are and what we do. It was important that we chose the perfect location and event; something that reflected the ethos and culture of sshh...
Rhythms Of The World festival was an obvious choice. They have such a strong community of people who make it possible: everyone who works at the festival is there voluntarily and really mucks in with a hard working ethic towards making the festival a huge success year after year. Walking around the backstage areas and talking to the volunteers you really get a sense of this team spirit; everyone knows each other and they all share the same passion for the festival.
We provided a 24 foot yurt for the festival to use as a backstage area. This gave artists, crew and media a space that was clean and luxurious, and beautifully juxtaposed to the surrounding mud, noise and usual chaos of a festival! It really gave our guests a peaceful place to unwind, party or do any of the other endless things a sshh... Yurt can be used for. It was a challenging event as the land we set up on had taken a beating from the solid rain that had fallen that week which was then followed by JCB’s being driven through it. Our adaptable team pulled through to level out the ground though and set up in expert time and with that, bring the sun out for the weekend.
The festival also has an amazing tradition of bringing music and culture from all over the world together. We definitely experienced this with the amazingly talented and diverse artists that we had in our Yurt, some of whom gave interviews and impromptu acoustic and A cappella performances. It is also a great festival for showcasing new music, we certainly discovered some great new acts who we will certainly continue to follow and look forward to potentially working with in the future!
