Enhance your workforce with a trainee
Enhance your workforce with a Trainee
City College Brighton & Hove, sponsor for our October networking breakfast, share a blog on the benefits of traineeships.
Would your business benefit from enthusiastic workers, keen to gain experience in your field? Traineeships are designed to match employers with 16-24 year olds looking to develop the skills and experience to compete for jobs or Apprenticeships in today’s market.
Employers tell us that many young job applicants lack the experience and skills to be effective at work, which makes recruiting young people difficult. By taking on a Trainee you can:
- boost your workforce with new talent, at minimal cost
- give a young person the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience
- benefit from a simple training programme, with minimal red tape
- improve motivation within your workplace - Trainees tend to be motivated and enthusiastic
- access a possible future employee, who is trained-up and knows your business
Traineeships prepare participants to move into an Apprenticeship or job in their chosen field, by offering them:
- work-preparation training – how to gain and sustain employment
- a 12-week to five-month training placement with an employer
- English and maths training for those who don’t have GCSEs at grade C
- an employability qualification
- a formal interview and reference at the end of the programme
How do I know it will work?
City College has proven screening processes and pre-placement training, and will find a Trainee who fits well with your organisation and goals. If you or the Trainee isn’t happy with the placement we’ll quickly review the situation, and if it can’t be resolved you can terminate the arrangement at any time.
What will it cost me?
Traineeships are government-funded, so you won’t need to pay your Trainee, and we’ll even cover their travel costs to work (you might decide to offer support with meal costs). Unlike an Apprenticeship no contract of employment is involved, although many of our placement employers go on to employ their trainees as Apprentices or staff members after the programme.
Getting involved
Programmes start in October 2014 and January, February and March 2015, so to find out how we can build a programme to support your business visit www.ccb.ac.uk/public/courses/traineeships or call Kyle on 07912 387126.
We look forward to discussing this with you at the Business Breakfast on Friday 24th October
