Elton John Memorabilia Sale Keeps Delivery Specialists Busy This Autumn
Local shipping specialist, Mail Boxes Etc., Brighton, will be handling the shipping of items after the unique sale at Gorringes auctions, Lewes.
The collection includes a platinum disc for the first million sales of the 1973 album 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', a multiplatinum disc commemorating 11 million sales of 'Candle in the Wind', re-released after the death of the Princess of Wales in 1997 and a framed set of discs commemorating 43 million record sales in America. Other items in the sale include tour jackets and items belonging to Bob Halley, Elton's manager for 35 years, as well as a diamond-studded Theo Fennell crucifix estimated at £2,500-3,000 which was given to Bob as a birthday present by Elton John.
Dave Tester, the owner of Mail Boxes Etc., Brighton, said :“We regularly collect antiques and fine art from Gorringes to deliver to their clients around the world who require a professional packing and shipping service. I was very fortunate on a recent visit to get a private sneak preview of the collection - and it really is amazing. Although the items are different from the antiques we normally ship I am sure we'll get lots of shipping requests from overseas, especially the USA. ”
According to Gorringes valuer Andrew Elliiston-Elhinn : “The sale is expected to realise between £400,000 and £500,000 and is one of the most interesting sales we have ever had. We have already seen international interest from buyers. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
