City College rewards City Achievers
At its recent City Achievers 2010 awards ceremony held in Brighton to celebrate outstanding student success, City College Brighton and Hove awarded American Express the Employer Contribution Award for embracing staff training through the working partnership it has developed with the College.
The company provided staff with a full support programme to aid the achievement of nationally recognised qualifications which has included mentors, buddies and delivery of internal workshops to support learners to achieve.
City College Principal Phil Frier said:"The new Employers Contribution award is a great way for us to celebrate our links with local employers and it was richly deserved by American Express for their commitment to staff training in collaboration with the College. I think this award serves to remind us that by nurturing talent and helping people achieve their potential, City College is part of the lifeblood of the community and the local economy."
During the awards evening, from a cohort of around 12,000 students, the College chose forty-one winners in areas as diverse as Visual Arts, Business, Hairdressing, Horticulture, Carpentry, Sports and Catering.
There were also University scholarship awards and the inaugural presentation of a ‘Golden Alumni’ award for notable ex-students won by local businesswoman and ex-Beauty Therapy student Clare Rogers, owner and founder of The Treatment Rooms day spa in Brighton.
