City College launches new training restaurant at the Amex
City College Brighton and Hove, recently praised as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, is launching a new training restaurant ‘City College @ East Central Brasserie’ at the American Express Community Stadium.
The College is renowned for producing such top local chefs as Ben McKellar (The Gingerman) and Simon Duncan (Sam’s of Brighton) and the new restaurant is designed to help train the next generation of chefs to achieve similar culinary excellence in a real working environment under the supervision of trained chefs.
“It is a great coup for the College to be involved with this wonderful new stadium and City College @ East Central Brasserie is not just providing excellent learning opportunities for our Level 1 to 3 catering students, its also a great means of enhancing our reputation in the community” says Principal Phil Frier.
“The Gallery, the training restaurant we already have at the College’s main campus, has gained a fantastic reputation for providing fine dining at a fraction of the usual cost and we’ve no doubt that customers at the Amex will be delighted with both the quality of the food and the very reasonable price.”
City College @ East Central Brasserie is open for lunch Monday to Friday during term time, caters for over 100 covers and gives students the opportunity to train towards delivering an express lunch service so that busy customers on their lunch-break can be in and out within thirty minutes.
The menu features high quality main courses for just £4.50 and starters and puddings for only £2.50. Examples of the type of dishes the students are preparing include roasted beetroot and goats’ cheese crostini , chargrilled chicken thigh on crostini with olive tapenade, salmon fishcakes, tartar sauce, salad and potatoes, plus traditional favourites such as quarter pound burger with Sussex cheese and wedges.
As a special introductory offer, stadium staff and City College staff are entitled to a 20% staff discount until Christmas.
