Charities and social enterprises ride the wave of networking
‘Building a network of support for your social enterprise’ workshop, 8th July
Brighton Chamber is delivering the last few of the popular and highly acclaimed Ride the Wave event in July, and one is specially designed for social entrepreneurs and those running charities and social enterprises.
‘Building a network of support for your social enterprise’ on 8th July, will offer social entrepreneurs a chance to hear how a number of successful social enterprises have used their networks to grow.
The event will be facilitated by Toby Buckle, founder of Leading the Change, a training and development social enterprise.
Toby is a professional leadership coach and has worked with a range of organizations including the NHS, National Geographic and The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
He came across social enterprises through his work delivering executive coaching and training and says “I got quite passionate about social enterprise being the answer to some of the problems we have at the moment.”
Toby is keen to help to develop a network of social enterprises in Brighton and says the event will focus on how to build a network of support. He says “Support and funding is out there but not always visible, knowledge sharing is really important.”
The event is 9.30am – 11am at the Sussex Cricket Ground. Attendees will also hear from Nina Emett from FotoDocument, Robert Griffiths from the Martlets and Frances Duncan from The Whitehawk Inn.
Nina Emett, Director, FotoDocument said,
“There are many different approaches to networking. What works best for me is to network in a way that's very, very purposeful.”
“We're a small organisation with a very big remit and big ambition and I have to be very careful about how I use my time.”
Nina recently went to a talk in London on the power of positive media which was useful because she was able to network with people who were “ on the same page and want the same outcome.”
She added “that's not to say other forms of networking aren't useful”.
Nina also believes there can be moments of “serendipity” in networking and would encourage other entrepreneurs to open to new encounters.
