Can I mass email Chamber members?
Amy Lishman, Membership Manager at Brighton Chamber explains why we don't encourage mass e-mails to Chamber members and shares her top tips on the other ways to maximise the Chamber as an extra marketing channel.
E-mailing all members is not something that we encourage at the Chamber as we’ve had feedback that people prefer not to receive unsolicited marketing e-mails. We don’t provide a list of members or send mailers to our members from other members as a service, for this reason. Taking member information and details from the website for marketing campaigns is against our website T&Cs, too.
With new GDPR regulation coming into force in May, businesses will have to think differently about how they use databases and market to their customers in future. But there are plenty of creative and effective ways that businesses can use to introduce themselves to the local community. Here are my top tips to maximise the Chamber as an extra marketing channel.
- Share your news and offers – If you have something to share about your business, for example a bit of news or you have a special offer for Chamber members, post it on our noticeboard and we’ll pick it up and post on social media for you.
- Ask for introductions – the ultimate form of targeted communication! People buy from people, so make your networking counts. If you’re coming to an event and you see someone on the attendee list that you’d like to meet, ask one of the Chamber team for an introduction. We’re always happy to connect you up on the day.
- Engage with us (and each other!) on social media – If you’ve won an award, are offering a new service or other news, then tell us about it on social media or join in the conversation about all things business in Brighton on Twitter @brightonchamber
- Use the Chamber Network - Lots of talented marketing agencies and professionals are members of the Chamber. If you’re looking to up your marketing game in an ever-competitive market, then get in touch with the professionals to help you out. If you need some recommendations, why not ask one of our Chamber ambassadors or give us a call?
- Sponsor a Chamber event– With event sponsorship packages available from as little as £250 these are great opportunities to raise the profile of your business. By sponsoring a Chamber event you’ll get brilliant marketing opportunities before, during and after the event and a team on hand to help you make the most of your sponsorship. We run over 100 events a year so there are plenty of event sponsorship opportunities to choose from. Contact Amy to chat about your requirements at membership@businessinbrighton.org.uk
