Business Lifebelt Initiative wins Public Service Award
Business Lifebelt – winner of the ‘Best contribution to the local economy’ in the Public Services Awards on 24th September 2009
Business Lifebelt is a package of measures to help businesses in the economic downturn. Funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, it was designed and delivered by the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce and Business Link Sussex.
Chamber President, Julie Stanford, said ‘It’s a fantastic honour to win this award and it has given all those working on the project a huge boost. I have been so pleased to see the practical help and advice offered by the Business Lifebelt events, for businesses in the City. We have one final event next week, but are working with Brighton & Hove City Council on providing some further support for next year. Businesses should keep in contact and let us know if they need any help’
Sarah Springford, Director of the Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce, and Rob Dawson, Economic Development Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council (pictured) accepted the award at the ceremony at the Grand Hotel, Brighton.
The project has used many local suppliers and established strong working links between the business support organisations in the city since it started in January 2009. Over 1200 businesses received help and support through the 14 events.
