Brighton’s first ever ‘Vlog Summit’
Video blogging – vlogging - is recognised as one of the strongest marketing tools around. Brighton’s first ever ‘Vlog Summit’ gives you a taste of how you can master it for yourself.
The Lighthouse, Friday 22nd January 2016
If your New Year business resolution is to get yourself noticed online, then one of our newest members can help. Mi Elfverson is a commercial video producer and she’s the brains behind Brighton’s first ever Vlog Summit. It’s coming to the Lighthouse on Friday 22nd January and if you’re new to video blogging (vlogging) and want to take the mystery out of it, then book your place now.
In this post, Miranda Birch, one of the Academy’s coaches (and another Chamber member) explains how a few minutes in front of the camera can build your business and bring in more clients.
How is your elevator pitch these days?
In the world of work, we’re always being told we need to perfect an elevator pitch.
What is it - exactly - about your business that offers real value to your clients and customers? Why is it different to all your competitors?
It can take ages to identify your unique blend of experience, knowledge and skills. And then you have to whittle it all down, so you can rattle it out in under 60 seconds.
Luckily, there’s a new way to deliver your message to your clients.
The power of the video blog. Your vlog.
In this age of YouTube, your business story has a potential audience of hundreds, thousands and - if you’re called Zoella or another vlogging star - millions.
With individual video blogs you can build up your online presence over time. You don’t have to pack everything into a single pitch. You can focus on a different aspect of your work for each vlog. Before you know it, you’ll have a series, spanning weeks, even months.
Those videos will be the start of a new relationship with potential clients and they’ve got more staying power than a one-off elevator pitch.
Let’s make it simple.
There’s a lot of mystery around film-making: the lighting; the equipment; the thought of talking naturally in front of a camera. If you’re wondering where to start, The Vlog Summit will help. https://youtu.be/OPfQ4HuDsk
You’ll realise that with a few simple tools and techniques, you will come across as clear, natural and genuine. And people will want to do business with you.
Because the old cliché holds good. People really do prefer to do business with real people. Face-to-face is contact is best, but if you can’t be in the same room as someone, a vlog that captures the value and character of your business is the next
best thing.
How do we know?
Between us, the coaches at The Vlog Academy have been practising the different elements of a good video blog for decades – and well before the word vlog came into existence.
The Academy’s founder, Mi Elfverson, is a commercial video producer. Her experience of working on high end commercials, including Kellogg’s and Eriksson, means she has a great eye for the right visuals and knows all about the technical set up.
She can also help you to strip back your message, so it resonates with what your brand promises.
Sandie Armstrong is an actress who combines her performing arts experience with communications training in the corporate world. She’s worked with big names such as Morgan Stanley and Lloyds Insurance Group. She knows how powerful body language and unconscious signals can be, so she makes sure you’re at ease in front of the camera.
And I draw on my journalistic experience at the BBC (Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and Desert Island Discs) to help you to pinpoint why you and your work are significant.
Our combined experience means we can help you to create your own vlogs which look good and really resonate with your target audience.
Take the mystery out of video blogging and put your business in the spotlight. Book your place today at the Vlog Summit in Brighton on Friday January 22nd.
