The Bright n Green Project
The Bright n Green project is an innovative Brighton Student’s Union project that aims to put students at the heart of sustainability. It has 3 main areas;
• GoGreen (promoting sustainable transport)
• LivingGreen (assessing and improving accommodation)
• GreenSkills (connecting sustainability and employability)
The GreenSkills strand seeks to educate and motivate all students to adopt sustainable values and enable them to develop the skills needed for implementing sustainability in their future careers.
The project is hosting challenge events which will co-ordinate enterprise challenges for students which address real green business objectives. Teams of Brighton students with relevant, specialised skillsets are ready to take on your organisations environmental assignments for free. By pairing up business and charitable organisations’ environmental projects with the eager, talent of tomorrow the project helps build sustainable business whilst enhancing students’ employability. This is a win-win opportunity for all involved!
They are looking for professional organisations either involved in the environmental sector or wishing to complete an environmentally focussed piece of work to get involved. Examples of projects could be anything from an energy saving premises audit to promotional work for an environmental campaign or project. Information packs are available by post or email from the GreenSkills co-ordinator, Zora.
GreenSkills is also looking for a number of local environmental internship placements for Brighton University students. The university has a plethora of disciplines and levels of students needing part-time work experience and full-time 6-week summer placements. The benefits to businesses taking on interns are well known, such as the potential to source high quality future employees, increased support and productivity in meeting short term objectives, improved company credentials and community relationships.
Using interns can open up a fresh ideas and perspectives. University interns offer the added benefit of specialized knowledge and skill sets pertaining to specific areas of interest and a cost-free, efficient recruitment process. The project also has access to funding for internships that fit certain criteria.
