Blighty to France for the halow250 – Get your Business in on the Ride - by Sophie Turton, Creative Communications, @turtonsophie
Are you a keen cyclist looking for a challenge greater than January’s Dryathalon? Fancy casually traversing two countries, perched on the seat of a bicycle with nothing but the great outdoors, 250 miles and 48 hours of hard burn ahead of you? Want to get your business behind a fantastic local cause, while casually bragging about your buns of steel? Then cast your eyes on the halow project’s latest big adventure:
What?
The ride starts in Putney on Friday 2nd May and ends on Sunday 4th in Guildford.
The first leg of the journey takes you through 80 miles of British countryside to Portsmouth, where you will take an overnight ferry to St Malo. You will get more than just a taste of stunning French scenery as you ride the 115 miles to the port of Caen. Here another overnight ferry, and a well-earned feast, will take you back to the UK for the final 55 mile leg from Portsmouth to Guildford.
This is a physical challenge, a lifetime achievement and a fantastic experience well worth the £300 entrance fee. There is a minimum fundraising target of £500, 100% of which will go to the halow project. The halow project are on board to support you in fundraising; what a fun way to get creative with office team building activities.
As well as top-range professional support throughout the two day ride, you will also get both over-night ferry crossings (including on-suites), a delicious send-off breakie in Putney, bespoke halow 250 cycling kit, a drinks reception, welcome-home party and experienced mechanics throughout. To find out more and register for the ride, visit the official halow 250 site (Please embed this link: www.halow250.org.uk).
Who?
The halow project (please embed: http://www.halowproject.org.uk/ on halow project) are a Surrey-based charity that work with young adults with learning disabilities. They are committed to developing creative opportunities and removing social barriers, aiding their young people to lead happy and fulfilling lives with as much independence as possible.
Halow offers a unique and innovative program of activities, giving young people the chance to enjoy an active social life, make new friends and find further educational and employment training through their various initiatives.
Why?
It is easy to give money to charities with no real personal involvement. The halow 250 gets you hot and sweaty, both hands gripping the handle bars; it is a huge challenge for a ginormous cause. Get involved, get your employees involved, get your family and friends involved and make 2014 the year of personal, as well as professional, achievement.
