Bill Drummond offers to bake 40 cakes to raise £10,000 for Barnardo's children's charity
The After Dark Gallery Charity Art Auction will take place on Saturday 3rd March 2012 at 7pm – 1am at The Loft, 10 Ship Street, Brighton.
As well as Bill Drummond, local, national and international artists have donated artworks: Julian Opie, Jon Burgerman, Verbals Picks, Claudia Pilsl, Sally Sheinman, Ivan Black, Liz Toole, Joanne Lee, Will Nash, Pulp Magic, Exploring Senses, Tan Draig OBE and nearly 30 more.
The auction is being organised by mother and daughter Sally Lemsford and Stella Deacon, both creatives themselves. There will be artworks for sale on the night to suit every taste and pocket, from prints and paintings to sculpture, embroidery, ceramics and installations. It’s the next generation of gallery for people from all walks of life. And as well as artworks to peruse and bid for, there will be live music and a raffle. Stella says, "This isn’t a typical gallery space or your usual night out. There are no crisp white walls and whispering at the After Dark Gallery Charity Art Auction, just overflowing creativity and loads of fun."
Tickets cost £7.50 + booking fee and can be bought from resident, 28 Kensington Gardens, Brighton, or tel: 01273 606 312. Unfortunately it’s an over 18s event and due to the venue, there’s no disabled access, sorry.
Sally says "Come along and find a wonderful range of artworks to buy and an exciting night out, somewhere curiously different, while helping raise money for Barnardo’s children’s charity. We’d love you to join us and help make this a truly fantastic event."
